The Sophia Christian Learning Centre was born following a conversation among a group of Christian parents, surrounding concerns about the nation’s education system. Out of this conversation came a vision to support home-educating families by providing a formal setting for children to receive a wholly Christian education. The concern to reach beyond our small group follows Christ’s command to love your neighbour as yourself (Matthew 22:39) and the instruction to train up a child in the way they should go (Proverbs 22:6). 

Since October 2023, a small group of people who share this burden for Christian education have met regularly to pray into, discuss and plan for this vision. The Lord has provided in wonderful ways and Sophia Christian Learning Centre opened in September 2024.

Greetings and praise God for taking the first step in finding out about Sophia Christian Learning Centre! My name is Susan Nalus and I am delighted to be joining the learning centre as Learning Supervisor and Teacher from September 2024.

Being part of the Christian community since I was a teenager, it has always been my dream to work at a Christian setting.

Having taught in different schools for 38 years, the Lord has been gracious to allow me the opportunity to find this position. The hard work, prayer and faith that has gone on behind the scenes to start the learning centre has been immense and I am looking forward to working with the children, volunteers and governors to help bring the learning centre forward.
